Life is full of experiences, both negative and positive. These experiences serve as learning opportunities for every individual involved. It is unfortunate that most people do not learn valuable lessons from the experiences they have in life. In most cases, subjection to harsh conditions makes one realize that life is full of ups and downs. Often, many human activities undertaken during one’s lifetime cause a person to reflect on his/her past mistakes, taking care not to repeat the same errors later in their lives. Negative experiences take on different aspects as time passes on, to the extent that by the time a person becomes aged, he/she will have learnt numerous lessons.
One area from which one gains valuable lessons is through various relationships with others. People need each other, and so friendship is a major investment. Most people at some time in their lives choose the wrong person to consider as a trusted friend. Depending upon the circumstances of betrayal and the personality traits of the individual being betrayed, an individual may be reluctant to trust again.
However, to be able to cope with disappointments that are part of life, it is important to understand that there is much more to life than just losing one disloyal and undeserving friend. However, not many people find this advice practical. Most individuals, especially when they engage in gross misunderstandings, view the end of their relationship as the end of their lives. This perhaps explains why there are so many withdrawn people who exhibit no desire to engage into romantic relationships. Although some may choose to regard such people as being immature, it can be a sign that the person is experiencing emotional turmoil. It is widely accepted that anyone experiencing psychological problems should be treated in a timely manner so that the problem does not develop further; otherwise, the long-term repercussions can be detrimental to that person’s sense of well-being.
Typically, though, individuals go on to develop other friendships that prove to be lasting and valuable. Personally, I have endured such experiences, but I have learned valuable lessons from these experiences: there can be no mutual sense of friendship without understanding. I have been in two abusive relationships in the past, and I know what it means to have a disrespectful partner. When my relationship with Dave went sour, I was so traumatized that I stayed indoors for an entire week. Thankfully, life makes its own adjustments; and looking back, life has taught me that good and bad people will come my way throughout my lifetime. The most important lesson I have taken from these experiences is that I can become stronger, more able to resolve issues without having someone to come to my rescue.
Tips on narrative essay writing:
Narrative writing is among the easiest essays to develop. This is partly because such essays do not require research, but simply a reiteration of one’s ideas, thoughts, and experiences. Unless there is a word limit provided, a narrative essay can be as lengthy as needed to accommodate the writer’s complete thoughts on an experience. However, the freestyle nature of such essays does not suggest that there are no rules to writing a narrative essay. For example, a narrative essay on life should contain elements of truth. To ensure this, the writer must avoid the exaggeration his/her life experiences. A second tip is to create believable characters in the essay.
